If you are a mom or dad who loves to jog or power walk - and you have two young children - it’s not easy to get you exercise sessions. Now might be the time for you to consider a double jogging stroller for your family.
A double jogger will be lightweight and have a fixed front wheel. The fixed front wheel is ideal for jogging, because it provides the stability and straight tracking that you need.
There are lots of choices on the market - so deciding which one is best for you is not always easy. Here is a list of 10 things to consider when looking to purchase one.
1. Wheel type. The way that jogging strollers assure a smooth ride and an easy push for the runner/walker is the large wheels. The wheels on your stroller should be 16″ in diameter and they should be similar to a bicycle tire - air filled tires and spoked wheels.
2. Make sure your kids will be comfortable. The seats in the stroller should be easily reclined - and the seats should be padded and constructed of fabric that is breathable and is a light-weight material.
3. Handlebar that can easily be adjusted. If both you and your partner plan on using the stroller - and if one of you or your partner is much taller than the other - make sure that the stroller you choose has a handlebar that can be adjusted with a simple touch of a button. This feature will make the double stroller much more comfortable for anyone that will be walking/running with the stroller.
4. Light-weight. The lighter your stroller is the better (35 pounds or less). You will inevitably be lifting the folded-up stroller in and out of your car - and you want to make sure that it can be easily done. And, obviously the lighter the stroller the easier it will be to push.
5. Long lasting. Today’s strollers will either be welded aluminium frame construction or will be constructed of metal tubes connected with plastic joints. Look for one that has a welded aluminium frame - it will be more expensive, but they are noticeably lighter and much sturdier than strollers with metal tube frames. Also, look for a stroller that has wheels made of alloy - they are lighter and rust-resistant - compared to steel wheels.
6. Safety - the most important aspect of your purchase is acquiring a baby jogging stroller that is safe for your babies. Look for one that has a five-point harness for each of the seats. This will keep your children secure in the stroller when out for a walk or a jog.
7. Brakes. Look for a stroller that has both a hand-brake which will be located on the handlebar and a foot brake which will be a bar positioned near the rear wheels. The hand-brake is use to stop the stroller while in motion and operate just like a bicycle brake. The foot brake is used to hold the stroller in place when you are stopped.
8. Sun canopies. Sun canopies on strollers are there to protect your kids from the damaging rays of the sun. With a double stroller there should be two separately-operated canopies. Each of them should be independently positioned so that each of the riders is protected from the sun being in their face.
9. Easy to put away and easy to set up - Look for one that has a simple, easy process for setting up for your run or walk and for folding down to a compact size for storage or placing into a car trunk. And make sure that it can be easily folded by one person. You won’t always have a second person with you to help with the baby and the stroller. And, if you plan to travel a lot look for one that has quick-release wheels that pop off for ultimate compactness when folded.
10. Makes Sure Your Stroller is Rated to Safely Hold Your Kids. The certified weight of the stroller should be no less than 100 pounds. As your kids grow and gain weight you still want to be able to use the stroller for runs or power-walks.

Many important events bring friends and families together. The majority of them, like weddings, graduations, and birthday parties, are very happy occasions. Few are as significant, however, as a newborn in the family. Defying hospital rules limiting visitors to two at a time, family members and friends crowd into the poor mother’s hospital room. Packed like sardines, they circle the bed, cooing over the tiny bundle everyone insists on passing around. Sometimes there is a territorial preschooler strutting about showing off “my baby!” The glow in the room in palpable.
Unfortunately, not everyone can be there to see the new arrival, and there are far flung friends and cousins eager to see pictures and get all the details. For decades, baby announcements have been the traditional way of spreading the good news. All the important information is included, and sometimes there is a picture of the precious newborn.
For truly gorgeous baby announcements, letterpress is a lovely choice. This ageless style of printing is over five hundred years old, and while the plate making technology has been computerized, the printing process is much the same as it has been for centuries. Because it is so hands on, few people do it now.
For singular occasions like a baby’ arrival or an anniversary party, however, it is well worth the trouble of finding someone who prints with letterpress. The elegance and style of this old style of printing far exceeds any modern printing process.
Though it is old, letterpress is anything but dull and traditional! There are so many motifs and customization choices for baby announcements. From the fluffy and adorable to the classic, there are a wide range of choices. Colored envelopes and ribbons and classy corner pockets add a unique touch. With letterpress, you can create gorgeous cards that will truly stand out and be kept for many years to come.

Parents go out of their way to choose the right car seat for their baby, they spend significant time and money to protect their most precious cargo. Yet, in a recent study, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that, according to a multi-year study, misuse occurred in 79.5 percent of the child safety seats inspected. Through the wrong use of safety restraints, many children are actually put in potential harm by otherwise well meaning parents.
The improper usage of safety restraints was the major fault found in the study. Problems were discovered in the looseness of both the safety belts and the harness straps. These mistakes, the ones that almost every parent makes, are the ones that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, or NHTSA, as it is also called, say can be the most “critical”.
Always use the correct seat for your baby’s age and weight and in the correct position. Children who weigh less than 20 pounds and younger than one year of age can ride in a rearward-facing car seat. Seats that are specially designed for infants are smaller and they fit more tightly around the baby. For your child’s protection, always place the infant only car seat in the back seat and always make sure it is positioned facing the rear.
If you prefer a seat that will accommodate your baby as they grow, a convertible seat is another option. Support needed by convertible seats is something that makes them larger and heavier. Convertibles should also be placed in the rear-facing position for infants weighing under 20 pounds and under 12 months of age. When the baby out grows that position, the seat can be forward-facing until they reach 40 pounds.
It goes without saying, that the most important part of car safety dictates that you simply use the seat in the manner it was intended. Make sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions, as well as your vehicle owner’s manual. Remember to double check the buckle that straps in the car seat and the restraints that hold the baby in place.
Many parents get frustrated having to use harness straps, but they do need to fit around baby’s chest tightly and correctly and connect in the appropiate slot. If strapping the harness into a slot position in a convertible, the relevant slots are above or at the shoulder; if using an infant car seat, the appropriate place is below. Parents should check their owner’s manual to confirm placement, and they should make sure that the harness clip is at the same level as the baby’s armpits, and double check that no straps of the harness are twisted.
All seats should be reclined by 45 degrees if possible and the seat belt should be followed through the right path for the position of the seat. A rolled towel under the base helps secure the seat into position. Tighten the seat belt, as needed, to ensure the restraint is secured to your vehicle. For LATCH systems and car seats, consult your owner’s guide and safety seat instruction manual. Other important facts to keep in mind are the general seat age and condition. Don’t use a seat that is more than five years old or does not come with the manufacturer’s instructions. Along with the owner’s manual, your seat should have all its parts, and should have never been involved in any type of car accident.

Are you thinking of having babysitters needed signs. It helps to advertise. If you’re worried that no one would respond, you shouldn’t be. Many people would grab the opportunity to baby sit for the extra cash. Your real problem would be finding the right babysitter for your kids. Here are five things that can help you determine if someone can be trusted with your children.
Working Experience - Find out how long an applicant has been babysitting. If you have small kids, a lot of kids or children who are quite a handful, you would want to have an experienced sitter. On the other hand, you may settle for a neophyte sitter if you have a kid who is already past five years old.
You should also be interested in the age preference of a particular sitter. Not everyone for example would be comfortable and skilled enough with taking care of infants. It is important that the age of your kids fall within the level of experience and preference of your sitter.
References - If there are babysitters needed in your area, she may have already worked for others. In this case, she should at least be able to present you with some references. Give her references a call and find out how well she has baby sat for others. One thing you should remember though is that it is your sitter who is supplying the references. She would naturally forward the names of people who she thinks will give her a positive feedback. You shouldn’t rely entirely on references.
Her Background - You should look for background information on your applicants. You don’t want a sex offender, criminal or former drunk driver minding your kids. This may be a little tricky to look into. No one who wants to desperately have a job would volunteer damaging information about herself. You could ask your applicant to present some clearances or formal recommendations that would vouch for her clean personal background.
Method of Dealing with Kids - She may have a lot of experience handling kids of all ages. This doesn’t mean though that she has the exact same methods as yours when handling kids. She may not keep the same policies that you keep with your kids. Before you accept a sitter, make sure that you ask her about her methods. How would she handle kids in specific situations? What is her usual response when a child is being difficult? If she has different ways of handling kids, be sure to tell her how you would want things to be handled.
Her Rate - One crucial point that you shouldn’t miss is her rate. You can’t expect a sitter to accept your offer just because she wants to have a job. There are many other families looking for sitters. If your rate isn’t acceptable to her, she can look for other families to sit for. Many things can influence the rate such as sitter experience and amount of work to be done. Be sure to talk to your sitter and negotiate for an acceptable rate.

Shopping for a new baby is a favorite thing for many people to do. It is often surprising how soft and small their clothing is for babies. It is often difficult narrowing it down to one item. For this reason, many people start making their own baby gift baskets. In the next few paragraphs, it will be discussed how to create such wonderful presents for a new family and what should be put into it to make it extra special.
For starters, a baby gift does not have to be in a basket. Use creativity and make the container something the new parents can get a lot of use out of. Many baskets have been made using everything from, diaper bags, baby bathtubs, bassinets, and special keepsake boxes. Another option is to create a unique container by tying diapers together; it could definitely be the favorite gift for a new mom and dad. In the end, whatever is choosen will be great if care and attention to detail are considered.
When designing the inside of a baby gift basket, most designers really cannot go wrong. There is such a wide variety of items that can be included. One option is to ask the soon to be parents if they have a registry anywhere. If they have, presents can be choosen from their own list. If not think of a theme that could be used. For example if a baby bathtub is chosen as a container, it could be filled up with shampoos, lotions, bath toys, a water thermometer, and washrags. Other fun things that could be added are baby bath towels that have been embroidered or a little bath robe. These gifts are sure to always please.
Colors and shapes are another important factor when designing your present. Choose colors that complement each other. For a boy, bright primary colors would look wonderful together. For a girl, pinks and purples pop off of against each other. It can vary from these with different palettes, but do try to use more than one color. Shapes should also vary. It would be important not to use all squares or circles in your package. Have fun choosing items and adding those little extras that make a present stand out.
An idea such as this is a great way for the office to pull together and give the new proud parents something for the newborn. This is also a perfect type of present for those who cannot make up your mind on a single item. A collection of needed items or items that you feel the parents would appreciate still exhibit the thought you put into choosing something for their child. By choosing a basket is also a wonderful way for neighbors to collaborate and put a special item in from each of them.
The important thing to remember is that whatever you choose to put into your basket, the new parents will be so happy that you thought of them. The care and time you put into your present will be so rewarding. This is a wonderful way for you to bring a little but of yourself to their family and share your excitement on the new arrival. The appreciative smiles you receive will be a priceless experience that you will always treasure.

Designing a life book for your adoptive child or foster child may seem overwhelming, especially when you don’t have a lot of information about your child’s life before he or she became a part of your family. One of the biggest stumbling blocks is getting past the feeling over being overwhelmed.
Each adoptive family varies in the amount of information they may have about their child’s birthmother. Some families have a relationship where the birth mom may actually baby sit for the family occasionally, to seeing them for a visit once a year, to having no contact whatsoever.
Oftentimes a family may have more than one adopted child the birth moms of the different children have different relationships with the family-if any. So the involved birth mom may even send notes or small gifts to the sibling of the child, so everyone feels included and loved.
If you have a good relationship with a birth mom you may be able to get any information you wish for your child’s adoption album. She may even be eager to assist to help dig up information or answer questions to help your child have an amazing book.
If you are an adoptive mom without a lot of information about your child’s birth or birth family-if any at all-don’t fret. You will still design an fantastic life book that helps your child understand his or her history.
For example, though one of the most important parts of the life book is about the biological mother, you may not even have a photo. You may want to include a poem about how a birth mom feels or write something like, “Did you know that your birth mom and birth father passed along a lot of physical traits you to in their DNA. I bet you got your pretty blond curls from your birth mom!”
It’s hard for most people to imagine, but many adoptive parents don’t even know the birthdate of their child or where he or she was born. Rather than writing, “We don’t know the date of your birth” in your child’ adoption album, journal something along the lines of, “We believe you were born during the winter of 2005 some time because when you came to the orphanage you weighed about the same as the other children born about that time.”
Don’t forget that it’s not the amount of information that will make your album complete, but the love and effort that you put into the adoption book that your child will notice most. As your child grows older and asks more questions about his place of origin, you can do research together to help answer his questions. But don’t put off creating an adoption life book because you don’t have all the information you wish you had. Children love reading about themselves and they even enjoy making up their own stories to fill in some of the blanks.

The normal card size is 4×6, and if you plan on folding your cards over, you should allow for that. You will want to cut them 8×6. Once you have cut the base for your cards all the right size that you need, it will be time to decorate and personalize them.
For instance you can look through some of the past baby shower invitations that you have received. You can ask what sort of baby shower invitation ideas friends of yours had when they were hosting such an event. Many baby shower planners like to tie in the baby shower invitations with the theme of the shower.
Therefore when all is said and done you can be proud of the hard work that you have taken to make this baby shower a success. At that stage of the pregnancy, the mom-to-be will probably love to be pampered for an afternoon. These baby shower invitation ideas are cute and creative. Let the balloon deflate and mail the invitations to your guests with the instruction that they need to blow up the balloon to read the invitation.
If the mom is having twins, then include two socks or shirts so everyone knows this is a twin baby shower invitation. If you can afford it and plan to invite only women, why not arrange with beautician friends to help you to organize a treat for them all. Each guest reads her contribution at the shower and the book becomes an added keepsake for the baby. Design the baby shower invitation idea around a beauty feast for moms.
You could also buy some inexpensive baby tops or socks and use them as your invitation. Most mothers-to-be are naturally too busy at a baby shower having fun to try to remember every item that is given to them and by whom. Be sure that you get some great paper, as well as some that matches the coloring on it. You can decide on how many modern baby shower invitations you are going to need, so that you will have a good idea of how many supplies you need.
There are many cute cards on the market that have a picture of a stork delivering a baby or with cute captions. Baby Shower Invitation: Ultrasound - Take an ultrasound picture when visiting the doctor and scan it in your computer or take it to a copy place like Kinko’s. Make multiple copies and write the information for the baby shower on the back of the picture. A very creative baby shower invitation idea to be sure.
The lids snap in place pretty snugly, but you can add a bit of hot glue to make sure they don’t come off if you like. Baby Bottle Invitations - Purchase some small baby bottles to send out the invitations. You don’t have to use traditional items like lace, ribbon, or glitter to enhance your invitations. You can create an elegant invitation for your shower by using some nice paper and a calligraphy pen.

Like many parents, I’m very particular about the type of car seats I buy for my kids. While I’ve never been in a car accident, I simply don’t want to have any regrets in case I ever am. I just can’t imagine putting my kids into a car seat that fails on them when they really need it!
My fears are not unwarranted either. I’ve heard far too many stories about car seats or seat belts failing at the critical moment in car accidents. A personal acquaintance of mine lost both children due to seat belt failure, one of which was the seat belt of a baby car seat.
Because I don’t want regrets, I’ve researched car seat options quite a bit. Two brands have surfaced as having some of the best safety features. One of the most important aspects is that they allow kids to stay in a 5-point harness as long as possible. The brands of car seats that allow this are the Sunshine Kids and Britax car seats.
I chose to buy two Sunshine Radian 80 car seats for my daughters because they will allow my girls to stay seated in them until they are 80 pounds. That’s a wonderfully long time compared to most car seats out there that have weight limits of 40 pounds. The Sunshine Radian car seats are also set up with some other fantastic features.
Steel frames - these frames won’t deteriorate in the hot sun like other car seat frames. Plastic is far too susceptible to damage by heat and sun.
Convertible options - these seat can be set both rear-facing for infants and forward facing for older kids
Stylish - you can’t beat the cute patterns they have for little girls’ seats.
LATCH - you can secure these car seats to your car via the LATCH system so you don’t have to worry about your own seat belts failing in a crash. (Seat belt failures happen far too often!)
Foldable - these car seats are heavier due to the steel frame, but they do fold up nicely and can be carried like a backpack for easy transport
Narrow - you can actually fit three car seats in a row in the back of a minivan if you need to. That works real well for me now that I have added another baby to our family. All three kids sit together in car seats from ages 0 to 8 years old!
My kids and I all enjoy the Sunshine Kids Radian 80 car seats. They think they’re cool and comfortable, and I know they’re as safe as they can be. Makes for a great combo that is well worth the little extra money!
